S7s and S8s Create Colourful Mural for “Bermuda, My Home” Competition5/21/2010
Developers of the former Waterloo House, the Green family and Berco Ltd., proposed a competition for Middle School students to design and paint one of the large boards fencing in the Pitts Bay Road construction site. The theme of the competition, which was organised by Masterworks Museum and sponsored by Berco Ltd., was “Bermuda, My Home.”
Secondary Art Head Fiona Murdoch, assisted by S7 Art Teacher Corrina Rego, supervised the dozen students involved in this project: S7s Liam Peniston, Skye Kermode, Elizabeth Parsons, Anna Petty, Jessica Petty, Cathal Rynne; and S8s Zoe Simmons, Nathaniel Martin, Taja’mes Branch, Scarlett Brash, Daniel Perez, Zureena Rubaine. Zoe Simmons designed the wonderful mural which was painted over two days as their hard work on the first day was washed away by sudden showers before the paint dried! At the prize presentation, the Saltus students received a certificate of participation and a cheque for $500 for the School.
