All enquiries regarding admission, at all levels of the school, should be directed to the Admissions Office (telephone 441-292-6177 or e-mail admissions@saltus.bm) and not to the particular Department to which admission is being sought.
All applications – completed fully, signed and dated – should be sent directly to the Admissions Office, accompanied by a non-refundable application/processing fee of $50.
Where appropriate, the applicant’s current school should forward to the Admissions Office an official transcript of work and most recent standardized testing. If applying to the Secondary Department, a school recommendation from the principal or person in charge of counseling, as well as specific references from current English and Mathematics teachers, is also required. Parents of prospective applicants should contact the Admissions Office prior to application to request an application package which will contain all applicable material.
When a vacancy arises and the applicant is next on the wait list, the applicant’s parents will be notified and invited to contact the appropriate Department to arrange for an interview and any assessment/testing that needs to be undertaken.
Decisions on admission will be communicated officially to parents by the Admissions Office.
Each letter offering a place will be accompanied by an Enrolment Contract (requiring a $1,000 non-refundable deposit), a Tuition Payment Plan form and, where appropriate, a Laptop Offer form, all to be returned to the Admissions Office by a specified date. When acceptance of an offer of a place has been confirmed, parents will also receive a Handbook containing information on policies and procedures relevant to the particular School Department to which the student has been admitted, as well as a booklet detailing the more significant of our Whole-School Policies. Any further information of a more general nature will be provided by the Department itself. Department Handbooks, as well as the Whole School Policies Handbook, can also be found on the website under 'Departments'.
At the end of the school year, parents of students still on the wait list will be contacted to ascertain whether they wish the application to roll over to the following year. Parents are asked to indicate whether they would be prepared to move their child sooner if a place becomes available. If the reply form is not returned by the specified date, the applicant will be removed from the wait list.
Exceptions to this process:
1. FOUNDATION YEAR
From September 2006, the initial entry point into Saltus became the Foundation Year, specific details of which may be found in the Lower Primary Department section of this website. Since demand for Foundation Year places exceeds the number of places available, an early application is always recommended.
Students are admitted into Foundation Year in the September of the calendar year in which they turn 4 years old. Any exception to this is made entirely at the discretion of the school. The admissions process for Foundation Year begins well in advance of the scheduled date of entry when parents are invited to attend the Lower Primary Open House and to update the information we have on file (since many applications are made at birth).
Since no formal testing is required at this level, official offers are made to the first 40 boys and 40 girls, based upon the admissions criteria outlined above, between May and July in the year preceding September entry. This allows at least one full school year for the parent and student to be assimilated gradually into the Saltus community. There will be opportunities during this time for both to visit Lower Primary and to see it in operation. Parents of children with a known learning disability or health issue are required to make a declaration of such to the School. The School will make the final determination as to any student’s suitability or not to enter The Foundation Year.

2. SALTUS 7
Admission into Saltus 7, the first year of Middle School, for non-Saltus students is determined by performance in the Saltus 7 Entrance Examination held in late February/early March of each year. Applicants already on the school’s wait list are automatically sent detailed information on the format and scope of the examination. New applicants may sign up by the deadline stated in the advertisement placed in the Royal Gazette in January.
According to performance and the number of places available, students are called for interview immediately following the marking of the examination and parents are notified shortly thereafter of the decision taken.
The Saltus 7 Entrance Examination is also used to determine the recipients of any external scholarship and other awards made at this entry level (see Scholarships).

3. SALTUS 10
Students leaving the public system at the end of Middle School have the opportunity to enter Saltus for the GCSE and college-preparatory years (Saltus Years 10-13, North American Grades 9-12). Such students will sit an entrance examination in March and those who perform at the required level will be called for interview shortly thereafter. Successful students will be counseled on the option choices to be made for GCSE in preparation for their entry into the Secondary Department in September.

4. SALTUS GRADUATE YEARS
The very successful Saltus Graduate Years (SGY) is a two-year university/college-preparatory programme, based upon the internationally-recognized Advanced Placement Examinations of the College Entrance Examination Board (http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/). Full details of the SGY Programme are to be found in the appropriate section of this website.
The SGY Open House is held in late October/early November of each year. Application material, including detailed course descriptions, may be obtained at this time or by contacting the Admissions Office or the Head of SGY.
Non-Saltus students can return completed application forms, listing chosen compulsory and elective courses, at any time after the Open House but no later than February 1. Late applications will be considered according to the availability of space. Applications should be accompanied by an official school transcript and letter of recommendation. The Head of SGY and/or the Deputy Head will interview all applicants and decisions regarding admissibility will be made as soon as possible following the interview.
For Saltus 11 students, no formal application for SGY is required. The Head of SGY and/or the Deputy Head will have held information meetings about the SGY Programme with both students and parents well in advance of the Open House. The student’s previous school record, as well as performance in the ‘Mock’ (I)GCSE examinations, will give a clear indication not only of the student’s suitability for SGY but also of the choice of subjects to be made. Further discussions with the staff as a whole can be held during the January Parent-Teacher Meeting. Following that meeting, students for whom SGY is considered to be a viable option will be asked to indicate their preferred compulsory and elective courses; other students will be counseled in the options available to them. The Head of SGY and/or the Deputy Head will then meet with each prospective SGY student individually to review the student’s choice of subjects and to discuss any other issues relevant to the student’s entry into the Programme.
