Secondary Classroom Curriculum

An exciting curriculum based upon the UK's National Curriculum is followed at Key Stage 3 level with the focus of study ranging from Classical Music through to World & Contemporary. At Key Stage 4 students follow the GCSE syllabus leading to AS & A Level at Key Stage 5.

Instrumental Music Instruction

Students in the Secondary school may wish to enroll for individual or group tuition programmes in Woodwind or Brass. These lessons are offered at a cost of $50 per 30 minute lesson and are billed at the beginning of each term. Woodwind tuition is available for Clarinet, Flute & Saxophone and Brass tuition is available for Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Euphonium & Tuba. 

Lessons take place during the normal school day with Mrs Maule & Mr Miles in the Secondary Music Department. Tuition is also available for Piano, Drums & Guitar - details of which are available from Mrs Lisa Maule.

Jazz Band

Entry to the well renowned Saltus Jazz Band is through audition with Mrs Maule & Mr Miles. 
Rehearsals are held on a weekly basis in the Secondary Hall.

Wednesdays 12.45 - 1.40pm

Concert Band

Entry to the school Concert Band is through audition with Mrs Maule & Mr Miles. Weekly rehearsals take place on Wednesdays in the Secondary Hall with sectional rehearsals held in rooms 304 & 305.

Sectionals Fridays 7.45 - 8.40am

Full rehearsal Wednesdays 7.45 - 8.40am

Senior Orchestra

Entry to the Senior Orchestra is through audition with Mr Miles, Mrs Maule & Ms Sheridan. Rehearsals are held on a weekly basis in the Secondary Hall.

Thursdays 7.45—8.40am

Bill Duncan Music Suite

The Secondary Music Department houses the state of the art Bill Duncan Audio Visual Suite. With cutting edge technologies & software, students are provided with the ultimate tools to aid their creativity and thinking combined with an opportunity to experience first hand the processes of a live recording set up. The Secondary Department also houses a sound proof practice room, giving students the ability to practice their instruments in a dedicated and uninterrupted space.

Choir

Entry to the Secondary Choir is through audition with Ms Hylton-Smith. The Secondary Choir rehearses on a weekly basis in the main Music Classroom.

Shout! (for years 9-11) Tuesday 7:45 - 8:30am

Shine! (for year 7 & 8) Wednesdays 7:45 - 8:30am

Participation is open to all with auditions for soloists.

Theory

Theory tuition is available to all students and follows the ABRSM syllabus.
