Physical Education
PE offers opportunities for pupils to:
-
acquire and develop skills, performing with increasing physical competence and confidence, in a range of physical activities and contexts;
-
set targets for themselves and compete against others, individually and as team members;
-
understand what it takes to persevere, succeed and acknowledge others' success;
-
discover their own aptitudes and preferences for different activities; with the aim of finding a sport they will pursue during and after leaving school.

make informed decisions about the importance of exercise in their lives;
-
develop positive attitudes to participation in physical activity whether winning or losing.
Pupils will be taught:

Relevant sport terminology

Relevant rules, laws and etiquette to play particular sports

Particular motor skills necessary to participate in a particular sport

How to participate safely
-
The effects of exercise on the body

The Graduate Years
This is an options program, designed to:
-
allow students to experience activities that we have not covered in previous years, with the emphasis on helping students to find an activity that they can pursue after they have left school
-
continue some of the traditional games
-
allow students to obtain certification that they might find useful after they have left school
-
give students a little more responsibility in a less formally structured environment
Students are also able to take the IGCSE course in PE, if their academic commitments allow.
The options offered to students are:
SCUBA (leading to the PADI certification), Kayaking, Tennis, Soccer, Badminton, CPR & First Aid Certification, Field Hockey, Basketball, Rugby, Ten Pin Bowling, Field Hockey, Indoor Soccer, Track & Field, Cricket, Softball, Golf
