21 schools took part in this years’ Primary Cross Country Championships which took place at the National Stadium and Arboretum. Each team can enter 8 runners per age group and there were approximately 160 runners in each of the four age group races. The top 5 places on each team are added together to determine team score.
Under 9 Girls placed 6th overall. They were led my Mia Forbes in 13th place, Tate Sullivan (41st), Suzie Hyland(42nd), Kenzie Lawrence and Freya Lau. Other runners representing were Genevieve Silvester, Ajana Patton and Leilani Peters.
Under 9 boys placed first in their age group with 3 Saltus runners placing in the top 6 (Max Parry 4th, Chase McCrimmon 5th and Isaac Todd 6th). The rest of this team included ConorO’Sullivan(19th), Joshua Burrill(27th), Ethan Hunter, Colman Qutuband Tyler Simmons.
The Over 9 girls placed 3rd overall led by Avani Patton(12th), TseBurgess(15th), Beattie Ball(20th), Erin Alfrey(33rd) and Kennedy Steeves(40th). They were joined by Saffia Fox, Sadie Devery, and Ella Shepherd. Sadiehad a mishap at the start and was at the end of the group. She got up, passed 100 runners and ended up 62nd so full credit to her!
The day finished with a very exciting O9 Boys race. Tyler Coleman impressed everyone storming into the stadium to win the event. He was followed by Tom Hyland(6th), Alex Lefebvre(9th), Declan Reardon(11th), Tucker Curtis(20th), Ramsay Soutter, Braxton Cooze and Johnny Bart. Their total score was 47 points. They beat out the Warwick Academy team by 1 point.
As always, we are proud of the outstanding efforts and attitudes of all these students. They continue to do Saltus proud!
