Saltus Community Raises Funds and Supplies for Jamaica Hurricane Relief

Saltus is proud to announce the success of its recent One Love: Jamaica Relief initiative, held on Monday, 10th November, in support of communities in Jamaica devastated by Hurricane Melissa. The storm caused widespread destruction across the island, leaving countless families in urgent need of assistance.

In a powerful display of solidarity, students and staff wore the colours of the Jamaican flag: black, green, and gold/yellow and contributed a minimum donation of $2. Thanks to the generosity of the entire Saltus community, the school raised $4,500, all of which will go directly toward relief and rebuilding efforts through the Jamaican Association of Bermuda.

In addition to financial contributions, Saltus partnered with the Jamaican Association of Bermuda to collect much-needed supplies, including non-perishable food items, baby formula, toiletries, first aid kits, cleaning supplies, and emergency shelter materials such as tarps, tents, and solar lanterns. Collection points across the school remained open throughout the week, ensuring strong participation and support.

“We are incredibly proud of our students, staff, and families for coming together with compassion and purpose,” said Nadia Robinson, Deputy Head of School. “This initiative reflects the heart of our school community - caring, global-minded, and always ready to help those in need.”

Saltus extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed. Every donation - large or small - has helped bring comfort, hope, and meaningful assistance to those rebuilding their lives in Jamaica.
