Tammy Richardson-Augustus JP is a partner within the Corporate department of Appleby (a global law firm with offices in 10 countries).
Tammy joined Appleby in 1998, practising securities work in both the Bermuda and Hong Kong offices of the firm. She then enjoyed some time as a stagiare at Linklaters in London and in the BVI office of the firm.
Tammy maintains a diversified business transactions practice, with emphasis on domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital markets and securities, secured and unsecured lending transactions and general corporate governance matters. She has extensive experience working with clients in a wide range of industries, including in energy, oil and gas exploration, and maritime shipping.
Tammy has been awarded many professional accolades throughout her career. She has been recognised as a ‘Leading Individual’ in the Banking, Finance and Capital Markets category and consistently recommended in the Corporate and Commercial category by Legal 500 and IFLR1000.
Tammy attended school locally at Warwick Academy and Saltus Grammar School Post-graduate Year. She then studied accounting and economics at Saint Mary’s University and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (cum laude) in 1993. At the University of Bristol, Tammy read law and graduated in 1996 with LL.B (Hons) and then completed the LPC Course with commendation. In 2003, Tammy completed all four parts of the Uniform Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) Examination.
Tammy is a member of the Bermuda Bar Association and is a justice of the peace. She is founding member and legal counsel of WISTA Bermuda, Bermuda chapter of Women in Shipping and Trade Association. A founding member and legal counsel of BERMEPA (Bermuda Marine Environmental Protection Association Ltd.), a chapter of NAMEPA (North American Marine Environment Protection Association). Currently serves on the board of directors of AXAXL End to End (registered charity), The Polaris Group of Companies and BermudaFirst Think Tank and is a member of Appleby Women’s Legal Network.
Tammy has two delightful children who both attend Saltus Grammar School.
