The Primary School Hockey tournament took place on Wednesday and Thursday, 24/25th April 2019. Saltus Upper Primary had 2 teams entered in each tournament.
In the boys’ tournament on Wednesday, the A team lost their first game against Gilbert 2-1 and then went on to win the next 3 to move into the semi-final where they were defeated by Warwick Academy 1-0. The B team won all their games during their qualifying round and went into the semi-final winning against Victor Scott 6-0. They went up against Warwick Academy and in the final and, in the last seconds of the game, had their first goal of the tournament scored against them. The final score was 1-0 to Warwick Academy.
In the girls’ tournament on Thursday the A team won their first 3 games, lost 1 and played in the semi-final against Somersfield. They won this game 3-0 and the in the final Evie Hook scored all 4 goals to defeat BHS 4-0. The B team had a draw in their first game and then won the next two to place top of their pool. They beat West End 2-0 in the semi final to advance to the final against BHS. Agathe Candillon scored a goal in the opening minute and the team held on to defend that goal for the rest of the game winning 1-0 in the final game.
