Middle School Inter-School Cross Country Results

29 of our Middle School students competed in the inter-school cross country meet on yesterday (Feb 7th) at the Arboretum and produced some great results.
 
In the Under 13 girls’ race Sukanya Jobson (Y7) convincingly won, finishing 50 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.  Our year 7’s continued to impress with Zara Bule finishing 6th and Avery Haldeman finishing 9th, for three top 10 finishers.  Our other team members were Jasmine Reid-Rubaine (Y7) 15th, Brinkley Mello (Y8) 19th, Emma Brown (Y8) 22nd and Zahra Goodchild (Y7) 24th.
We finished 2nd in the team event, losing to BHS by only TWO points. 
 
In the Under 13 boys’ race, Rory Shepherd (Y8) and Conor O’Sullivan (Y8) finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Harrison Estwanik (Y8) was 9th, for 3 top 10 finishes.  Our other team members were Adam Cenzer (Y8) 13th, Ronan Davidge (Y7) 14th, Spencer Haldeman (Y7) 15th and Conor Thomas (Y8) 18th, with all the boys finishing in the top 20.  Unfortunately, Y8 student Ta’han Eve did not finish due to a hamstring injury.  We finished 2nd overall in this race as well, 7 points behind WA.
 
The Over 13 girls, all in year 9, won overall in the team championship with Isla Paddison finishing in 4th, only 3 seconds out of 3rdFreya Lau and Sophie Wells finished 8th and 9th respectively, with Mia Forbes finishing 11thLexi Daniel was 17th, Ajana Patton was 24th and Leilani Peters was 27th.  Special mention should be given to Sophie who fell hard on lap 2 of 3 but managed to keep going and finish the race.  Her finish place made a difference with the overall team finish.
 
The last race of the day involved the Over 13 boys, all in Year 9.   We had four boys in the top 10; Dylan Eiselt finished 2nd, Liam Sheehy was 6th, Chase McCrimmon 7th and Charlie Hopkin was 9th.  Rounding out the team was Jasper Lau in 23rd, Brayton Browne 24th and Mataio Cameron in 30th.  The boys won the overall age group championship by 4 points over WA.
 
A great day was had by all, and our students did Saltus proud.
