Student Leadership

Inspiring Voices

At Saltus, our students’ voices are an integral part of the school community, and it is something that we aim to include in all aspects of school life as early as from Junior Kindergarten through to their graduating year. By providing our students with leadership opportunities throughout their time at Saltus, we encourage their confidence to grow and their voices to be heard on topics and issues that are important to them.

Although formal positions are held by students who have been selected through a formal voting process or by a selection committee, informal leadership opportunities are constantly happening as students develop their own autonomy, work closely in collaborative groups, and develop cooperative skills. We aspire for all students to be leaders in their learning journey.

In grades 6-9 there are opportunities to become a Middle Grade Student Leaders or a House Captains. Student leadership positions available for our senior students include Prefects (Head Prefects, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Prefects, Communications Prefects, Yearbook Prefects, Wellness Prefects, Sustainability Prefects, and Student Life Prefects), Gold Key Student Ambassadors, and House Captains.

When students are part of a team, they have established goals with individual and group expectations. Student leadership positions are not simply about joining a club, but about leading and making transformative changes within the school community. Students enjoy their leadership roles and establish positive and fun community experiences that encourage a passion within each group, which then spreads to the broader school community.
