Upper Primary Inter-school Cross Country Results

The Saltus Upper Primary Cross Country teams had an outstanding day at the Primary Cross Country Championships held at the National Stadium and Arboretum yesterday (8th February). Eight students per age group took on the challenging course and they did Saltus proud achieving the best overall results ever! There were approximately 140 runners in each race.

The Under 9 Girls tied with Harrington Sound on points but the 6th place runner’s placing was used as the tie breaker putting Saltus on top. Naomi Nusum was the top place finisher for Saltus in 7th.

The Under 9 Boys, Saltus dominated the podium with Nolan Horrobin in 1st, Conor Kane in 2nd and Joshua Cann in 3rd. Declan O’Sullivan also placed a strong 7th. They won their category!

In the Over 9 Girls race, Charleigh Gilchrist placed 6th to lead the team to the silver medal for her team. The first 5 girls all placed in the top 25!

In the final race, the Over 9 Boys, Saltus had 5 of the 8 award winners at the award presentation with Liam Horrobin taking overall honours followed by Matthew Hoey (4th), Roman Gaglio (6th), Oran Lynch (7th) and Arthur Cooper (8th).

Well done to every runner who took part and gave it their all. Hard work hurts…..but it does pay off and they should be very proud of themselves as we are!

Special congratulations to Nolan and Liam Horrobin for winning their categories! Huge thanks also to Val Horrobin (who was there to support, help with warm up, recording results and cheering all the runners on) AND Rose-Anna Hoey who spent the entire event on the hill in the Arboretum (referred to as Kilimanjaro!) encouraging everyone to keep going. It is a key part of the course and I know they all appreciated her support as they ran over it!!

Well done EVERYONE!
