Douglas Mello '90

Douglas is the Managing Director of Bacardi International Limited. He also serves as Vice President & Corporate Secretary – Shareholder Relations for Bacardi Limited. He has more than 20 years of corporate governance experience. As Managing Director, Douglas is responsible for the Bermuda office and the Bermuda Market of the global spirits company's world headquarters. Douglas leads the HR, Corporate Affairs, Advocacy, Building/Office Administration teams and serves as Chair of the Bermuda office Senior Management Team. As the Vice President Corporate Secretary, Douglas is responsible for the global governance framework of Bacardi Limited, its global network of subsidiaries, and the governance aspects of Bacardi’s Bermuda based trading structure. In overseeing the governance of the Bermuda based trading structure, Douglas advises Bacardi's Global Leadership Team and serves as Secretary to all of their meetings. Douglas also leads the privately-held company’s shareholder relations function. Prior to joining family-owned Bacardi in 2006, Douglas served as Company Secretary/Manager & Deputy Compliance Officer for Schroders (Bermuda) Limited. Douglas currently sits on the Board of Association of Bermuda International Companies (ABIC), and Saltus Grammar School and as an experienced director, has sat on boards of hedge funds, investment management companies and holding companies. He has also served in various capacities on not-for-profit boards.
 
Douglas is a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute, a Professional Administrator certified by the ICSA Canada, and a former Chairman of the ICSA Bermuda Branch.
 
He received his BA from Mount Allison University and an Honors Diploma in Business and Computer Applications from CompuCollege School of Business. Douglas also successfully obtained an Executive Leadership Program degree from Harvard Business School.
