Vanessa Hardy Pickering '94
Vanessa Hardy Pickering is the Chief Financial Officer and a Director of Hamilton Re. She is one of the original management team of Hamilton Re’s operations in Bermuda and was promoted from Group Controller of Hamilton Insurance Group (Hamilton) to Chief Financial Officer of Hamilton Re in September 2015. She has over 20 years’ experience in the reinsurance industry.
Prior to joining Hamilton, Vanessa was employed at Ariel Re for seven years, holding increasingly senior positions, the last being Senior Vice President, Controller. She joined Ariel Re from Rosemont Reinsurance where she was Assistant Financial Controller. From 1999 to 2003, Vanessa was employed in Ernst & Young’s Bermuda office.
Vanessa, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Acadia University, Nova Scotia, Canada. She holds the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Bermuda.

Vanessa is a current Board member of the Association of Bermuda International Companies (ABIC), and a former Board member and Treasurer of the National Dance Foundation of Bermuda. She became a member of the Saltus Finance Committee in 2017.
Vanessa and her husband, Mark, have two boys, both whom attend Saltus. She is also a proud Saltus alumna and was one of the first girls joining the school in 1991 when it became fully co-educational.
