Gil Tucker '71

Rodwyn Gil Tucker began his Saltus education in 1966 and graduated from Saltus in 1971. He was the first Black Bermudian Head Boy at Saltus. Gil earned his B. Sc. in Accounting & Marketing from Boston College. Gil joined the Saltus Board of Trustees in 1997 and was appointed Chair in 2011.  He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bermuda, The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the District of Columbia state board of accountancy.

Gil recently retired after having more than 35 years' experience with Ernst & Young, 19 as a Partner. Ernst & Young is a global leader in assurance, tax and advisory services. Gil became Country Managing Partner in 2007 and he led the firm's efforts in Bermuda. Gil is actively involved in the local community and he serves on various government advisory boards. Most recently, he had acted as co-chair on the Steering Committee of Bermuda First, a non-partisan economic group examining the sustainability and strength of the country's economy in light of current and forecast global economic conditions.

He has also served on a number of local committees, including the Bermuda International Business Forum and the Chamber of Commerce. He is a past President of the Bermuda Hamilton Rotary Club and past Chairman of the Bermuda Career Centre. Gil was also a member of Saltus' Capital Campaign Steering Committee for the, Francis "Goose" Gosling Centre, building project and was the Head of the Finance Committee.

Gil and his wife Beverly have two children, Alaina and Rodwyn. He has a passion for cooking and especially enjoys passing on his recipes to his children. He boasts a mean Bermuda Cassava Pie!
