E. Michael Leverock

Mr. Leverock is an executive-level professional who has Board and C-Suite experience comprising of independent directorships, infrastructure and financial services regulation, and company oversight, with over two decades of progressive, business management and startup experience, in the engineering, ICT, financial services, and energy sectors.

Michael was the Chairman of the Bermuda Energy Commission until October 2016, a role for which he was appointed in 2009 at the specific request of the then Minister of Energy, Telecommunications and E-Commerce. In 2014, Michael was appointed to the Board of the Bermuda Monetary Authority. In addition, Michael served two tenures as Chairman of the Bermuda Professional Engineers Registration Council.

He began his professional career in 1987 as a civil/structural engineer involved in infrastructure projects that included public wharves and docks, freshwater containment facilities, public and private sector building developments, highway construction and maintenance, and land surveying. His experience encompasses engineering design, economic feasibility and environment impact assessments, construction bid contract preparation and administration, and site supervision.


In 1993, Michael founded an international telephone service company and was a key figure in the deregulation of the industry in Bermuda. He is a co-founder of Bermuda Digital Communications (BDC) Ltd. which conducted business in Bermuda under the name CellularOne, then CellOne, and is now operating under the banner of One Communications Ltd. Michael served as Chief Operating Officer from January 1996 to May 2009 and was instrumental in every facet of business start-up, from securing initial its financial investment and developing the wireless network to generating ongoing sales growth and market penetration.

Michael and his wife Emily have two children at Saltus, a son in Year 9 and a daughter in Year 6.
